Volunteers at DSMT
In spring 2011 DSMT was approached by Olivia Midha, a student of Arabic and Farsi at Worcester College, University of Oxford, who had heard about us through a colleague of her mother’s. Olivia kindly volunteered her help and has undertaken various desk jobs for us over the last year which have included the opportunity to practice her Arabic. She investigated different models for setting up a higher education scholarship fund, which helped the board decide last year how best to proceed on this, and she has put in a lot of time following up possible sources of funding and expertise as part of joint research activities between DSMT and Ycare International, something we would not have the resources to undertake without Olivia’s help. Recently she has started monitoring the DSMT Facebook pages and following on Twitter people and organisations who have an interest in education in the Middle East.
