DSMT’s first HE scholarship holder is “main agent” in setting up twinning arrangement between Palestinian and UK students
Tamara Hallasi (centre with pink headscarf) was awarded a DSMT higher education scholarship in 2007 and completes her BSc course in Materials Engineering at Al Quds University this summer. The terms of DSMT HE scholarships encourage holders to take a full part in the life of the university and community and Tamara has done just that.
One of a small group of students selected to visit universities in London in October 2011 under a scheme coordinated by the Camden Abu Dis Friendship Association, Tamara has since worked hard to establish a twinning compact between Al Quds and University of Middlesex students.
“…Tamara Halasi, an engineering student from Al-Quds has been the main agent in making the twinning a reality. She helped to set a base of contacts at the university so that all matters relating to twinning would be dealt with by this team. In addition, the student also took time out of her final year to organise this meeting of young students who will strive to make the twinning grow from strength to strength.
At the time of writing, a facebook group has been created and is steadily growing with support from students and staff alike. The next stage, after the students have completed their exams, will be to meet and organise an opening event so that students from both sets of universities can see, greet and discuss one another….”
Well done Tamara!
