DSMT Scholarships aim to give ‘added value’

Our HE scholarships encourage girls to undertake voluntary work and to build up a work experience portfolio. Palestine has one of the lowest rates of female participation in the labour market in the world and we hope this might give them a competitive edge in the job market when they graduate.

Hala was awarded our second higher education scholarship in 2011 and is studying English with Business at Birzeit University.  As well as volunteering as a teacher of English to disadvantaged school children in the Old City, where she also supervises other volunteers, she has been acting as DSMT’s translator this year.  Hopefully these experiences will strengthen her CV and her chances of finding a job when she graduates in 2015.
