DSMT visits Dar El Tifl School, April 2017

Dan and Angela Simpson spent a very pleasant time in April visiting Dar El Tifl School in East Jerusalem, meeting staff and students and hearing the latest news from DSMT school and higher education scholarship girls.   It was heartening as always to engage with these students face to face, to see how they have grown up and matured, and to learn about their hopes and ambitions, as well as their concerns and anxieties.   Everyone asked to us to convey their grateful thanks to DSMT supporters for making these scholarships possible, relieving them and their families of some of their financial worries and allowing the girls to concentrate on doing as well as they can in their studies.

As part of the visit, a meeting was held at the school for DSMT scholarship girls past and present to explore the possibility of setting up an alumnae association.  This included presentations by speakers from the British Consulate General and the British Council who spoke about the benefits of networking and the importance of support groups, especially for young women who might go on to be trail-blazers in their families and their professional fields.   More news to follow later in the year.
