Case study – Safa

My name is Safa and I’m 19 years old

I am from Hebron area Yatta Village but now living at the YMCA VTC Boarding section. I heard about the centre from my friend who joined the center this year.

Graduating from this centre will give me a chance to find job to help my family. My family is an extended family consisting of 14 members. My father and mother are ill and cannot work. I have also a one disabled brother.  Only one of my brothers can work. He works in Israel and he is the sole bread winner for the whole family. We live in very hard economical circumstances and sometimes we cannot eat meat and vegetables for weeks, only lentils.

The YMCA VTC gave me a unique opportunity which I could not find anywhere else. At the centre I got introduced to a large variety of courses. I used to be weak in computer use and English language but now I feel the difference and I can use the computer and even know how to deal with some of its problems. I also like the graphic design classes. I like all the courses here especially the life skills which allows me to understand myself better.
